After changing to Vista a week ago (remember I was on XP a while back?), I did not anticipate the effect that it will have on my Windows Movie Maker (WMM). I use the program for doing videos for my job, and depend heavily on it, so I was quite :wow: when I tried opening it the first time with Vista and get this:
“Windows Movie Maker cannot start because your video card does not support the required level of hardware acceleration or hardware acceleration is not available.”
I was like, :omg: I almost hyperventilated. I thought my video card needs replacement already. But of course, being the researcher that I am was, I searched for a solution to my problem. And I landed here in this nifty Microsoft page which solved my problem right away. 🙂 Am I a genius or what? No, I just have a knack for typing in the right keywords.
As I was in the middle of making the video, I encountered another problem. :grrr: It’s always hanging on me. :poo: Shit :poo: . So I turned to Googling (not Yahoo,it produces irrelevant results for me) for answers again and read someone somewhere say that maybe it’s a codec pack messing with my WMM. And I thought, yeah. I installed a K-Lite yesterday, because the damn Windows Media Player won’t play .flv files (Do you want me to discuss my .flv problems too? No? Yeah, maybe another time.) So I uninstalled K-Lite, and voila. Problems solved.
I wish life was more like that. You just have to uninstall in your life something in order to make everything aw-right. But, unfortunately that’s not the case.
Damn. I just remembered I have yet to fix my blockquote codes. It looks eww now. But I have to sleep. I haven’t slept in eighteen hours. Ack. 😀
EDIT:
Of course, I now have the problem of my .flv files not playing because the K-Lite Codec Pack was uninstalled. Thankfully, I found a better codec pack that works well with Vista. It’s called the Combined Community Codec Pack (CCCP). Frankly, this is the first time I heard of it. But it works fucking great with Vista because it allows me to play all my media files in WMP while at the same time allowing me to use WMM. You can download it here.
