Nope. They are not the environmentalists of the future, although the band name sounds like it. I learned of the group first when my cousin Karla who has a band decided to do a cover of one of their songs (Never Came Around). I have often watched in awe how the vocalist managed to get away with such fast lyrics.
But it’s bold and fun, so I enjoyed every practice session. For the curious, the Green Police has four members, Duss Rosencutter (on vocals/guitar), Drew Willson (on guitar), Chris Pixley (on bass guitar) and Evan Campbell (on skins). Although the Green Police may not be as huge as, say, Pink Floyd or Red Hot Chili Peppers (yep, all of them have colors in their name), they still made waves during the 80s.
They got their musical inspiration from the bands The Buzzcocks and X, as well as 60s style garage & surf music. They also love Johnny Cash and The Green River Killers (band of the same name as the infamous serial killer). Want more of the Green Police? They have a MySpace page which I Googled earlier where you can listen to their songs. I hope they add more so I can fully appreciate what they are all about.
