We recently had to move to a new house, and because of my job, I needed to bring my internet connection with me to the new place. Since I am already out of the lock-in period (old lock-in period was only 12 months. The Smart Wireless Center (SWC) flyers says that the new lock-in period is 24 months already), I considered applying for a new installation instead of keeping the old one. But an SWC agent informed me that they no longer install canopies, just the Share-It modems (which we can’t have yet since we have no 3G signal here yet in our place), so the only option is to pay for transferring my old SmartBro canopy. Planning to move as well? Here’s how you can bring your internet canopy with you:
- Bring one valid ID, go to a Smart Wireless Center, and tell them you want to relocate your canopy. If the account isn’t under your name, make sure to secure an authorization letter from the account holder and have a xerox copy of his/her ID.
- Fill out the required details in the form they will give you (includes account number and new address).
- Pay the necessary fee (Php1,450.00) at the cashier and secure your receipt as the installers will want to take a look at it. I only paid Php1,000.00 because we have already removed the canopy from the old place and brought it with us to the new house. I suggest you do the same. The breakdown of the fee is as follows:
- Wait for 3-4 days from a text or call from the installers, saying they are coming to your house to reinstall your account.
Removal fee – Php450.00
Deployment fee – Php200.00
Re-installation fee – Php800.00
That’s basically it. There are risks to transferring, though. You would want to make sure first that there is a signal to your new place, because if there is none, you can only refund Php800.00 from your payment. It might take longer (a week or more) to reinstall if the people at Smartbro says they still have to survey your place for a signal (which happened in my case) in order to save you from paying blind.

To save the 450 for removal fee, you can remove the canopy by yourself or ask someone who can do it for you.
I’m very glad i took the time looking for answers if it is okay to bring your canopy with you when transfering to a new home, instead of just waiting for the agents to do it. Naka-discount pa ako.
Thanks much…
