Transferring From WordPress.com To WordPress.org

The last time I did this was for this blog, which was previously hosted by WordPress.com. I only had several articles to transfer then, so it wasn’t too much hassle. A couple of clicks here and there was all I need to fully move all my posts, comments, categories and pages from .com to .org. However, I recently found out that even with articles numbering less than a hundred, it can take several runs of the WordPress.org importer to fully transfer a blog content from one to the other. Five runs, to be exact. Which was frustrating at the time, since I all blamed it on my internet connection. It turns out that one really has to make not just one run in order to transfer contents from WP.com to WP.org, and I learned that thanks to a Bluehost.com support person. Oh well. Moving blogs is not really the most pleasant business I deal with. But hey, I learn a lot along the way, so I guess the experience is still worth it.
