On Course Choices

My cousin Karla is a nursing graduate, and is a registered nurse already. She works as a call center agent in a well-known call center firm in Quezon City right now. My sister Rikka who is a year younger than I am took up Psychology as her major during college. She, like Karla, is also a call center agent to date in the same city. My younger sister Phoebe who was taking up Social Anthropology here in UP Baguio before she gave birth to her son, is now a blogger. I on the other hand, studied Business Administration and majored in Management back at the university but look at me now, blogging and designing blogs for a living.

It’s funny how we all ended up so differently from what we wanted when we were in college, but I guess beyond the confines of school, your perspective in life will change. I admire people who took up science courses at school and ended up with science jobs for a living, because they were able to pursue their chosen career paths. I am not regretful though. I am happy with what I am doing in my life right now, happier still that I am earning from home. Maybe in the future we will all get to practice what we studied in college, but for now we are here where we are because we chose this, and are happy with where we are at this point in time.

  1. I wanted to be an ice figure skater. But there’s no course for that. Haha. I still want to be. But, realistically speaking, I love where I am now. Far from what I have wanted to be, but happy all the same. :coffee:

  2. :huhu: story of our lives. Sometimes, people will even do a double take and ask us right out why we chose to be bums – err – we chose to be something entirely different from what we studied up for. Between a stable work career and one rife with uncertainties, one always chooses the smoothest path to take.

Everything always has to start from something.

  3. indeed, but having a diploma is very helpful nowadays. you can be promoted, I also worked at a callcenter for so long but never promoted that is why I am studying again for a better future, kung hindi man, I will blog for a living din because this one of the things that I love doing. 😀
