The Subscriber Cannot Be Reached

How long have you tried living without your mobile phone? I have been without a phone for more than two years now, ever since I started to work from home. Well, not exactly phone-less the entirety of that two years, but I only use a cellphone if it’s absolutely necessary. I’ve found cell phones to be an expensive source of distraction, and I realize now that it’s quite a liberating feeling, being unreachable most of the time. Although I can imagine how irritating that must be for some people who, for one reason or another, need me in their lives.

When I had a phone, most of my friends, relatives, and even those I don’t even know can bother me anytime of the day or night because I’m just a text or call away. Well not anymore they can’t. If they want to reach me they would need to email me, because online is where I can be found most of the time. But even on the net I am not always available. I make it a point that I am not always available on messenger or Facebook or email. Why I like to be missed. LOL. Evidence that I can live without a phone? My last phone (who was given to me by a cousin who has too much mobiles in her name) died out on me because of non-use. Seriously.

But I guess not everyone can live phone-less. I got to admit, mobiles are very convenient to carry around especially during emergencies. For people on the go, it’s even a necessity. But since I am a work from home mom who’s not crazy about phones and the distractions and expenses it brings, I think I’ll stay this way for a long while.
