Transferring Domains

I wanted to transfer two of my very first domains (WAHMaholic and Beauty Queen Gene) to Godaddy for purposes of organization (all my other domains I bought from said domain seller) and also since Godaddy has really cheap rates for renewal and often has coupon codes which I can use to further save on fees. I bought those two domains in question from my original host Eweb, and have been requesting them to release my domains to me so I can facilitate the transfer to Godaddy for a couple of weeks but I received no answer.

I went to Eweb’s site and found that most links to the site land on a dead page, which just means that the site is not maintained anymore. Which just also means that business must have gone south. Eweb was pretty quick in answering my emails before but now there is just silence on their end. It was a huge inconvenience on my part, not knowing where I might request for the release of my domains if my domain reseller’s business has gone kaput. Good thing I am a researcher at heart, so I managed to track down the authorities who were in the end able to help me with my domain transfer problem. As of last week, the two aforementioned domains are now with Godaddy, and I can rest peacefully at night knowing that all my domains are now in good hands.

I don’t think it’s very professional of Eweb to just disappear like that without informing their clients first that they do not intend to do business anymore. But anyway, there’s not much I can do about that, so I guess I just have to charge that one to experience. I just wish all hosting companies who also sells domains are more caring of their customers. We can understand if you cannot continue doing business anymore, but at least have the decency to inform us, save us from the anxiety of not knowing what to do when we need to do something that requires a response from you.
