Hard Drive Recovery: Getting Your Data Back

The very first computer that I bought on installment a couple of years ago taught me the importance of backup, and is also the reason why I learned so much about basic troubleshooting. I mean, I had no other choice but to learn. It was not a brand-new desktop, and a couple of months after it was delivered to our house, it started acting up. It would refuse to boot up one day, then hang over and over again on another. Even the CMOS battery is failing. As you can imagine, it was quite frustrating for me and often disrupts my work for days on end. I had no choice then, what with the lack of monetary resources to even think of upgrading some of the parts.

The hard drive was my biggest problem. Over time, I have accumulated a lot of important files which I would be completely lost without, and I lived in constant fear that they would all be corrupted and serious hard drive recovery would be needed because of the constant problems my old computer was facing. I’ve never gone for professional hard drive repair though, as it costs money (main reason why I never went for one). I’ve lost some files along the way because of this, although of course there’s no sense crying over spilled milk.

Now that I own a better computer with specifications that I want, I have more peace of mind about my data. But, even though I now have a backup external drive, I still keep in mind the possibility of needing to recover my hard drive files in the future. I think I can now pay for such professional services should the time come, but let’s not hold our breath for that moment, shall we?
