My younger sister Ayie and her boyfriend Lloyd are now both working online. Ayie is blogging and Lloyd is joining t-shirt designs contest at the moment. Both are still struggling since they are just starting. It’s hard to earn for them, especially for Lloyd since there are lot’s of designers too aiming for the first prize in a contest. I advised him to start studying HTML coding for better chances at earning more.
I know studying HTML (especially on your own) takes too much time and effort but the rewards are great. If somebody gives him a chance to study formally, then I told him he should definitely grab it. Many companies are in need of coders, so once he’s knowledgeable in the field, it will be easier for him to apply for a full time online job and be paid according to his skills. He can still join contests but at least he’ll have a regular job to sustain his family’s need.
When blogging earnings were not enough, I tried my best to learn the basics of designing and coding. Good thing I learned very fast and now most of my earnings come from website designing. I hope that Ayie & Lloyd soon find their respective niches in the online world. Their son Elijah is growing up very fast, and soon he will go to school as well.
