Up

Svet saw a commercial of the movie Up on Nickelodeon and told me that the boy there (Junior Wilderness Explorer Russell voiced by Jordan Nagai) is her cousin Elijah. She was squealing every time Russell shows on the screen, and insisting that that boy is “Diego” (which is what we sometimes call Elijah). I decided to let her watch the movie again on TV because it’s been ages since we last saw it. Svet has more appreciation now of movies than she did several months back, so I thought this is a perfectly good time to re-watch.

As expected, she was bouncing up and down the whole movie, and is particularly fond of the character Carl Fredricksen (voiced by Jeremy Leary), whom she calls Lolo (Tagalog term for grandfather). She asks me “what’s that mommy?” whenever there is a feed back sound in the film, which is coming from Carl’s hearing aid whenever Russell shouts. Then another question of “what’s he doing mommy?” when Carl reaches up to his ears to adjust it or turn it off. You’d think he is in dire need of hearing aid batteries change with the way it acts up when Russell is around. LOL.

I expect Up to be Svet’s newest favorite movie. She hasn’t quite gotten over Toy Story yet, but has already shown signs of boredom when it’s on, so I know it’s time for her to move on to a new film to watch everyday.
