Getting Hitched

Seems like a lot of my friends, old and new, are getting hitched these days. And here I am thinking June is the month for getting married. But hey, I can understand the reasons. It coincides with some of the biggest holidays of the year, and people are coming in from far away to visit their families. To most of us, the presence of family is important in one of the most important days in our life, so it’s a great time to get married when almost everyone is present for the holidays.

My cousin (who our elders say look a lot like me when we were younger) is getting married on the 9th of December, and she’s one proof. She lived most of her life in another part of the country, so we’re not exactly close. I was surprised when she came over to my grandma’s house here in Bulacan to ask us if we could go to her wedding. I don’t know if I should go or if I should just have someone send housewarming gifts for her.

I fell honored and all, but the date is immediately before an event that is one of the reasons why we are here in Bulacan in the first place. And the place is far from here. I don’t know if I should put Svet into that position. She might be too tired and cranky for that other occasion when it’s what we’ve been preparing for all along. Anyway, a lot of my relatives will surely go, so I guess their number will be enough to compensate for our absence.
