Unilab Ideas Positive Chosen Finalists

Young minds coming together can spark great ideas. Through this belief, Unilab has chosen 7 youth teams from Luzon as well as 5 others from all over the Philippine to complete its 12 teams of finalist for Unilab Ideas Positive.

Founded in 2010, Unilab Ideas Positive is a social marketing clinic and competition-in-one that provides a venue for college students to share their innovative and sustainable ideas to address the health and wellness concerns of their communities—and turn those ideas into reality.

I am particularly proud of the team of youngsters from North Luzon and their Belat Bulate project, aiming to promote healthier behavior among schoolchildren through comprehensive health programs in Brgy. Tadiangan, Benguet. As a mom, the health of children is one of the issues closest to my heart, and I’m glad that this particular youth team chose to focus on that idea.

Before all the 12 youth teams can turn their projects into fruition, Unilab will provide them with the necessary resources to aid them in their projects. This would include the following:

  • 3 day boot camp at Unilab Buyanihan Center in Mandaluyong from July 21 to 23, to learn and understand the fundamentals of Social Marketing approaches. Various workshops and Case studies will be conducted only by the best mentors: Social Marketing Expert Ned Roberto, Social Entrepreneur Reese Fernandez, Director Jim Libiran and recently awarded marketing practioner and philanthropist Jay Jaboneta, just to name a few.
  • Funding or seed money of P100,00 to implement their social marketing programs up to 6 months.

The boot camp also includes a one-day immersion at Gawad Kalinga’s Enchanted Farm in Bulacan before implementing the 12 teams’ social marketing ideas. The 12 teams were flown to Manila and were billeted at a hotel and provided with meals and transportation in the duration of their 3-day boot camp, all provided for by Unilab.

The 12 teams will be narrowed down to the 5 most successful teams for the project implementation. From the 5 finalists, one will be chosen to be the grand winner of the Unilab Ideas Positive for 2012.

  1. Hi RANDOMHOLIC!

Thank you for appreciating our project! I’m one of the members of Team Ba, UIP’s sole entry coming from Northern Luzon. We’re halfway through the implementation of the Belat Bulate! program, and we’re proud to say that the schoolchildren and the other residents of Brgy. Tadiangan, Tuba, Benguet are responding well to our activities. You can visit our FB page (http://www.facebook.com/belatbulate) for pics, vids and updates.

Thanks again! I’ll be watching out for more great blogs from you 🙂
