Top Commentator Widget For Blogger

Base pipe provided by BloggerSentral, date limit feature by Pehpot’s husband, long-winded [but NOT boring!] story HERE) that you can use to display the top commentators of your Blogger blog and give some some love to people who love you the most or use for a contest you’re holding. The features?

  • It ACCURATELY displays the top commentators from the last FIVE THOUSAND (5000) comments of your blog.
  • You are allowed to exclude THREE commentators of your choice (Anonymous is already excluded).
  • You can set the number of names to display on your sidebar and commentators’ links are linked to URL provided.
  • You can set the date for inclusion and exclusion (i.e. you want the list to show ONLY the top commentators for the whole month of January).

HOW TO INSTALL THE TOP COMMENTATORS WIDGET ON YOUR BLOGGER BLOG:

  1. Go to Layout and click Add a Gadget.
  2. Choose HTML/JavaScript.
  3. Copy and paste the codes you got from the image link above on the HTML/JavaScript gadget.
  4. Don’t forget to type in an appropriate title in the gadget box, i.e. Top Commentators or They Love Me Most, whatever floats your boat.
  5. Hit the delicious orange SAVE button.

EDIT ONLY THE FOLLOWING PARTS OF THE CODE TO REFLECT YOUR OWN SETTINGS:

YourBlogUrl= <- Your Blog address
&ExcludedNick1= <- 1st name to exclude from the list
&ExcludedNick2
= <- 2nd name to exclude from the list
&ExcludedNick3
= <- 3rd name to exclude from the list
&ShowHowMany
=10 <- Number of commentators to show on your list
&ExcludeCommentsBefore
=01-01-2011 <- This is the start date
&IncludeCommentsBefore
=01-31-2011 <- This is the end date

That’s it! Easy-peasy, huh? And yes, I believe this widget IS the most ACCURATE there is nowadays, all thanks to Greenlava and Pehpot’s husband. I cannot thank you both enough! You’re a love! For any questions, feel free to comment below!
Above widget is free to use. All I ask is that you do not remove the credit at the bottom of the widget so that other people may find it and use it for their own blogs.

    1. yung name ng gusto mong wag maisama sa list. normally, it would be the name of the author as it would make no sense if you include your name on the top commentator’s list. :smile2:

    1. pwede sya actually. i think pehpot’s using it in one of her blogs on blogger na may own domain :nod:

  1. Sis, patulong naman bakit walang lumalabas ng commentor sa site ko tama ba gawa ko? o dapat ba mag-antay pa ako ng bagong comment bago sa mag appear?

    thanks!

    YourBlogUrl=http://livinglifetodfullest.blogspot.com/
    &ExcludedNick1=Levy to exclude
    &ExcludedNick2=Levy to exclude
    &ExcludedNick3=Levy to exclude
    &ShowHowMany=10
    &ExcludeCommentsBefore=SET START DATE HERE (i.e. 01-01-2010)
    &IncludeCommentsBefore=SET END DATE HERE (i.e. 12-31-2010)

    1. try replacing your code above with this:

      YourBlogUrl=http://livinglifetodfullest.blogspot.com/
      &ExcludedNick1=Levy
      &ShowHowMany=10

      alisin mo na yung mga hindi mo need na parameters (like the date limit) if you are not planning to use it. lemme know how it goes.

  2. sis, ito yung html code ng Top Commentator, wala pa din nagbago tinanggal ko na yung date at ibang di kailangan.. what seems to be the problem kaya? huhuhu!

    function getYpipe(feed) {
    document.write(”);
    var i;
    for (i = 0; i < feed.count ; i++)
    {
    var href = "'" + feed.value.items[i].link + "'";
    if(feed.value.items[i].link == "")
    var item ="” + feed.value.items[i].title + “”;
    else
    var item = “” + “‘ + feed.value.items[i].title + “ “;
    document.write(item);
    }
    document.write(”);
    }

  7. Can you tell me does this automatically update? Cause I put it in and it doesnt seem to add up during the day as comments are made?

    1. yes, it does automatically update dearie. sometimes it takes a couple of hours for the correct number to properly show (or you may have messed up the code)

    1. most people find that they have a wrong input. copying and pasting the code again (this time taking care not to delete anything, even a single quotation mark) works for almost everybody here.

  8. Hello kaye, can I ask for the code as well? New to blogger so would be great if it works! thanks in advance..wanna follow you but can’t find where to ..lol. where nga ba? :question2: Hope to hear from you soon! xx

    1. it should work. the beauty of this new process is that i make sure the code works specially for you before i hand it over ^^

      no problem. anything for you mommy clang! mwah!

  9. me too my dear k :)Pa-send please.. kaya pala di working widget.. eto napapala ko as being outdated sa blogospere..

  10. Thanks for this kaye. I’ve been looking for this code sa ibang ibang bansa nandito lang pala hehehe. anyway, how to change the date if I want the commenter on monthly basis. Yung bumabalik sa 1 pag change ng month? :angel:

    1. just change the lines:

      &ExcludeCommentsBefore=01-01-2011 <- This is the start date &IncludeCommentsBefore=01-31-2011 <- This is the end date at the beginning of each month to reflect the date of the start and end date of the current month mommy shei. andun din sa article about the rest of the options that you can control 🙂

  11. Hi Mommy K! I want to install this but will it work kaya for IntenseDebate comments? They also have this widget pero nasasama pati comments ko eh 🙁

  12. Hi there, i installed this one but there’s no comment appears .. please help 🙂

    This is what i did

    function getYpipe(feed) {
    document.write(”);
    var i;
    for (i = 0; i < feed.count ; i++)
    {
    var href = "'" + feed.value.items[i].link + "'";
    if(feed.value.items[i].link == "")
    var item ="” + feed.value.items[i].title + “”;
    else
    var item = “” + “‘ + feed.value.items[i].title + “ “;
    document.write(item);
    }
    document.write(”);
    }

    1. Hi Mam Kaye, Salamat sa advice. Na-download ko na ang plug-in at lumabas na ang commenters. 🙂 Do follow ang links hehehe, at may thumbnails pa. So cute. Thanks a lot. I owe you that.

  13. Thanks so much for this. I have searched far and wide for the code. Then, finally, I found it at home. Thanks for sharing! Kudos to you, Pehpot and her hubby!

    Y’all have a wonderful Lenten season and advanced Happy Easter!

  14. Thanks for sharing the code. It works perfectly except I can’t get rid of myself from the list. I tried all the different permutationsincluding copying and pasting the exact from one of my own messages. Any ideas?

  15. Don’t know, what I’ve done wrong, but it only displays this on my site:
    {\rtf1\ansi\ansicpg1252\deff0\deflang1033{\fonttbl{\f0\fswiss\fcharset0 Arial;}} {\*\generator Msftedit 5.41.21.2509;}\viewkind4\uc1\pard\f0\fs20 \par
    \par
    Can you help me please?
