Avoiding Distractions as a WAHM

If you are a work at home mother (WAHM), then you are probably already aware of how easily you can become distracted during work hours. As a mother, family distractions are not going to be uncommon, but there are other potential distractions that can cause you problems as well. The call of the internet is easy to follow, and you may become distracted with Facebook games and a wide variety of other distractions if you are not careful with your time. You are going to need to learn how to avoid these particular temptations if you want to perform well as a mother working from home.

Think about it this way: You have enough going on already as a mom that works from home. With children, a husband, pets and a household to maintain, you do not also need to become distracted by additional stimuli such as online games or social networking websites. Instead, what you should consider doing is shutting your browsers down, unplugging your internet connection and simply focusing on work until you can take a break. When you take a break, feel free to browse the internet and play your internet games. Otherwise, you really need to focus your time on your work at hand for as long as you possibly can, until your family finds a way to distract you away from your work.

Simply put, there are far too many distractions out there, and you need to work hard to minimize them as much as you possibly can. Do not let the siren song of the internet and its many distractions prevent you from getting your work done. If being a WAHM is serious and you need to produce an income for your family, then it is vitally important that you avoid internet distractions and focus on getting your work done and your deadlines met instead.
