An Old Job

Before I became a WAHM, I worked for almost two years in an online custom writing service as a writer/researcher. At least that’s what it says on my job title. It was a fun job at first. I handled a lot of assignments in a variety of subjects so I learned a lot while doing them. After six months, though, it became tiring for me. Too much information overload, and not enough motivation. I was looking for something more fulfilling, something that is direly missing from said work.

As someone involved in proposal writing services for other people, me and my coworkers cannot expect to be acknowledged in our craft. Quite like ghost writers, we will forever remain in the shadows because that’s what we’re paid to do. I always felt empty after a day’s work, exhausted because of the amount of thinking required to properly do the job, and sad because I’m not happy anymore with what I am doing. Somehow, after working like that for so many months, I didn’t feel like I could last much longer.

I left and tried my luck as a work from home mom, but I still landed writing for a custom writing service company. It was a higher paying job since I receive dollars as compensation, but it’s still the same nature of job as my previous 8-5 work, so I still wasn’t happy. I guess I’m just not meant for that type of job, because looking back, I never regretted my decision to quit the field and very happy with what I am doing now. I still like writing, though. Love it, in fact. But just for myself and not for other people.

  1. Hi, there! I’m a newbie follower of yours, and also a work-at-home mom.

I work at home for an Internet marketing company. What I like about this company is that they pay me a monthly salary, but I am on flexi-time. So, I can do my assignments (copywriting, content writing, blogging) when I want to. On the side, I take on other writing jobs which also afford me with the same liberties with my time.

I understand what you mean about burnout; the 8-5 grind will get you to that point, eventually.

What do you do now as a work-at-home mom?
