Bb. Filipina Wellness Spa & Fashion Boutique Plaridel

School’s Out

It was the baget’s semestral break when we decided to go to a new wellness spa in Plaridel: Bb. Filipina Wellness Spa & Fashion Boutique. I saw on Facebook that they have an opening promo, and I’ve been meaning to take the kid with me for a foot spa bonding session and P for a massage, so we went.

Getting there was pretty easy. It’s near one of our favorite milk tea shops (TeaOlogy in Plaridel) and spotting the building the spa was in was quick. They did not have parking in the immediate vicinity (fully occupied by several motorcycles at the time) so P parked across the street at a now-closed bank.

What’s Inside

They have enough space to cater comfortably to their clients who avail of their varied services. In the same space are the reception area, the full wall of authentic handbags they have available for sale, and the spa/mani-pedi chairs.

They have separate small but comfortable rooms for their laser/RF services and their massage services. Their lighting is muted but still comparatively well-lit than most spa places, so taking pictures of the space was a breeze.

The Services

I went first to try their face contouring (Php199 for one session). It’s essentially a facial that uses radio frequency to firm your facial contours, and to soften fine lines. This one’s very on trend, and the treatment is non-invasive (you can sleep while they do it) and there’s no downtime at all.

Ms. Jane, who attended to me, was very light-handed. She did 15 minutes on each side of my face, and I asked to take a picture of the before and after so you can see how just one session visibly changed my face shape:

Left side is the after, right side is the before

Needless to say, I was impressed. Imagine what more sessions can do. I was told this isn’t only available for the face, but for other problem areas of the body as well, such as the belly/tummy, the arms, the legs, and the neck. Packages are available for additional sessions, you can save more if you get more sessions.

Traditional massage with eucalyptus oil

Next was P with his hot stone massage. This is Php500 for 75 minutes of traditional and hot stone massage using eucalyptus oil. He said the experience was worth it for the price at the capable hands of Ms. Gina. He felt more relaxed because all his back complaints the past week before his massage disappeared.

Then the bagets and I went for our spa. The staff said she still qualifies for the kiddie spa, even if her feet is almost as big as mine ?

The kiddie foot spa differs from a regular “grownup” spa in that the soak used is jelly and there’s no callus filing involved. There was a minor incident when the baget’s right big toe drew a little blood but it was immediately remedied by the staff.

Kiddie foot spa (Php200)

I tried their signature foot spa that includes a hot stone massage, and got the upgrade to gel pedicure for an additional Php100. It was a longer process than normal, but it was very relaxing.

It’s good that the bagets and I do this bonding activity once in a while. It’s a way for both of us to unwind and talk more closely at the same time. Plus I get to teach her the importance of self-care, that it’s okay to treat yourself to such simple luxuries from time to time.

I didn’t plan on getting a leg wax that day but I saw that my hair legs were getting icky during my foot spa so I went for it. Ms. Niña who did my legs was one of the most meticulous estheticians I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting. She threaded my legs after waxing to be more thorough, which is not usually what happens when I get my legs waxed professionally.

Here’s a final picture of us with the staff. They were very nice and chatty and seem well-trained to do their respective jobs. Aside from the affair with the baget’s pedicure, all else was highly satisfactory, so we will still go back.

Ms. Carmina, who minds the front desk, is very friendly. I learned she and her sister Carla who is in Singapore own this spa business. She gladly spent some minutes with me to discuss a bit about their business, and it was really very pleasant talking to her.
